The JADE Housing Complex overlooks the Chillos Valley in the mountainous region of Pichincha. With the bustling city of Quito a short drive away, the JADE Housing Complex provides residents access to all that the city has to offer while still enabling them to experience the tranquility of the valley. The complex consists of 35 homes and a separate four-story apartment building with 24 units. Each home has a garden terrace that offers spectacular views of the valley and surrounding nature. Common areas also include green spaces, sports fields and a playground.
With Quito’s year-round temperature ranging from 9 to 19 degrees Celsius, insulated roofs and external walls help the homes stay warm without needing heating systems. The homes also conserve water by using low-flow showerheads and faucets and save embodied energy in materials through the use of less concrete in each building’s walls and floors. All of these green features help residents save in utility bills and contribute to an overall lower carbon footprint.
The JADE Housing Complex is the first project by SFC Construction, a subsidiary of SFC Group, recently created to pursue the company’s ambition to expand its transportation and logistics experience into the construction sector. SFC Construction is committed to pursuing a sustainable approach to business including the developing of green homes for families in the Quito area.
The JADE Housing Complex has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from GBCI.
