The Hotel Faranda Cali Collection boutique hotel is located in a historic building in the financial sector of Cali. Surrounded by museums and office buildings, the hotel caters to guests visiting for tourism or business. The hotel has a rooftop terrace called “La Sucursal del Cielo,” which translates to “The Branch of Heaven,” and overlooks Cali’s popular Boulevard del Rio and surrounding hillsides. The eight-floor hotel has a total of 50 rooms and is adorned with bright colors and unique architectural finishes. Hotel Faranda Cali Collection is a member of the Faranda Hotel chain, which is located throughout Colombia and other Latin American countries.
Developer Argentaria SAS and architecture firm Design and Projects SAS approached the development of the hotel with upmost care for the building’s historic value while also ensuring it meets earthquake resistance standards according to Colombian building codes. To preserve the original design, the façade and aesthetics of the hotel were maintained as much as possible and the existing roof and floor slabs were re-used in the building’s construction. The re-use of existing materials and the addition of other construction materials such as honeycomb clay blocks result in a savings of 66% in embodied energy in materials. Other features such as external shading devices and energy-efficient air conditioning make the building energy-efficient, while auto shut-off faucets and water-efficient dishwashers conserve water.
Argentaria SAS is a joint venture between Argentaria Ltda and Constructora Pérgola. Argentaria Ltda has experience in evaluating and managing commercial projects, while Constructora Pérgola brings more than 20 years of experience in architectural design and construction to the partnership. Hotel Faranda Cali Collection has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from CAMACOL.
