Standard Tower

Standard Tower

Standard Tower is a 6-storey office building housing the new country head office for Standard Chartered Bank Zambia, an international commercial bank, located in central Lusaka.

To meet international standards for resource efficiency, energy and water-saving technologies were incorporated into the design, construction and internal processes of the building. Roof insulation, higher thermal performance glass, an energy-efficient HVAC system and LED lighting using occupancy sensors reduce the office building’s energy use, while water-efficient plumbing fixtures reduce its water use. Solar photovoltaics provide 15.37% of the building’s electricity use.

Standard Tower has received Final EDGE Advanced Certification from Sintali-SGS.

Novare Great North

Novare Great North, located in Lusaka, Zambia, has received final EDGE certification from thinkstep-SGS.

Novare Great North

The Novare Great North mall caters to a previously underserved neighborhood near the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka where retail options are limited. As the first mall in the city to be anchored by the well-known African retailers Shoprite and Pick n Pay, Novare Great North will help relieve Lusaka’s heavy inner-city traffic by drawing more customers to the north. Developed by Novare Equity Partners, the mall’s resource-efficient measures were implemented at a minimal additional cost with utility bills expected to be reduced by over 40 percent. In addition to its green features, Novare has also implemented a general waste recycling program. The mall has recycled an average of 1,800 kilograms of construction waste per month since September 2018.

Novare decided to pursue EDGE certification to affirm its commitment to sustainable design. The company advocates for building green, which not only reduces their consumption of natural resources and the environmental impact of its buildings, but also lowers operational costs and boosts property values. By building green, Novare can ensure a lower carbon footprint and the enhanced wellbeing of communities, which also strengthens their corporate brand and environment, social and governance (ESG) principles. Since 2009, the developer has built several malls and retail stores within Lusaka and in other countries in Africa. Novare Great North has received final EDGE certification from thinkstep-SGS.
