MINT E-5


Situated in the heart of Istanbul, the new MINT-E5 residential building represents a new trend of sustainable buildings in a rapidly changing urban area. Developed by Hun Inc. and designed by RMJM, MINT E-5 is a high-rise residential building comprised of 102 one and two-bedroom apartments. Conveniently located to public transportation, schools and retail shopping, MINT-E5 offers an ideal location for residents who wish to live in the center of Istanbul. MINT-E5 is a member of the MINT group of properties, which cater to the demand for environmentally-sensitive urban lifestyles, where residents can lower their carbon footprint and save on utility costs. The developers of MINT properties are committed to building green, as seen in previous projects such as MINT Caglayan.

The exterior of MINT E-5 has high-performance glass to restrict the energy required for heating and cooling. It also has movable sun shading panels, inspired by Istanbul vernacular, that blend seamlessly with the building’s façade. Sustainable construction materials, such as autoclaved aerated concrete blocks, were also carefully selected to reduce embodied energy. Each household is predicted to save an estimated $26 per month in utility costs. The mission of MINT is to regenerate the center of Istanbul with environmentally-sound residential and commercial building projects, inspiring the community to build green for the benefit of all.

Dr. Lutfi Kirdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital

The Kartal Hospital, located in Istanbul, has received a preliminary EDGE certificate.

Dr. Lutfi Kirdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital


The Dr. Lutfi Kirdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital is a multi-wing healthcare facility with 800 inpatient and 200 outpatient beds. The 13-floor public hospital is operated by the Turkish Ministry of Health with three wings: Clinics and Administration, Diagnostic and Treatment, and Inpatient Wards.

Located in the Kartal district of Istanbul, the hospital’s resource-efficient design allows it to save money on operational costs and funnel more funds into patient care. The hospital has energy-efficient air conditioning, preheated water using waste heat from generators and energy-saving lighting to conserve energy. Features such as low-flow faucets and water-efficient landscaping also reduce water usage. The hospital’s sustainable design saves over 2,000 tCO2 per year.

The hospital was developed by the Istanbul Project Coordination Unit (IPCU) Governorship of Istanbul, a unit of Istanbul’s government founded in 2006 to improve the city’s earthquake preparedness. Since Istanbul lies on a major fault zone, the unit mitigates seismic risk through retrofitting and constructing new public buildings that are built to withstand a potential earthquake. The Dr. Lufti Kirdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital is a product of the Turkish government’s belief that sustainable buildings should be built to withstand both earthquakes and climate change.

In addition to building a structurally sound and environmentally-friendly building, the hospital offers many recreational spaces designed to improve patient well-being. The hospital also contains study rooms, libraries and labs to foster continued training and research for young doctors. The hospital has received final EDGE certification from thinkstep-SGS.

Greenox Residence

Greenox by Aycan-Feres Joint Venture Istanbul, Turkey, has achieved a final EDGE certification.

Greenox Residence


Described as “Turkey’s first vertical forest,” Greenox stands out from the urban landscape of Istanbul. With 900 trees covering the façade of the 16-floor high-rise residential building, Greenox takes its green building classification quite literally. The unique visual appeal of Greenox draws customers interested in living a sustainable lifestyle. Built with high-efficiency boilers for space heating and hot water, low-flow faucets in all kitchens and bathrooms and concrete filler floor slabs, Greenox helps residents lower their carbon footprint significantly and save utility costs. The building’s solar panels and gray water treatment and rainwater collection systems also contribute to its efficiency.

Greenox became a reality when two major real estate developers, Aycan Real Estate and Feres Gayrimenkul, combined to form Aycan-Feres Joint Venture. Greenox is the first project the new partnership has completed together. The unique residential building is located in the heart of the European side of Istanbul in close proximity to business, shopping and entertainment. Greenox contains 170 units consisting of one and two-bedroom apartments. Residents have access to outdoor spaces, a rooftop swimming pool and entertainment facilities. With many terraces to enjoy the outdoors, residents will be able to enjoy the natural appeal of Greenox.

Construído pela Hun Perakende Enerji ve Inşaat A.S. como um projeto de recuperação urbana e projetado pela AS/OS Architects, o MİNT Çağlayan é um edifício residencial com 129 apartamentos de um, dois e três quartos no coração de Istambul. A propriedade atende à demanda dos residentes com estilos de vida urbanos preocupados com o meio ambiente.

Criada em 2014, a marca MINT é formada por projetos deliberadamente localizados no centro da cidade. A intenção é transformar ambientes urbanos por meio de propriedades diferenciadas que mantenham o mais elevado nível internacional de qualidade e sustentabilidade. É adotada uma abordagem escrupulosa ao longo do ciclo de vida de cada projeto, desde a reciclagem do lixo diretamente durante o processo de construção, até o fornecimento de automóveis elétricos com estações de carga para serem alugados pelos moradores.
