The Pavillion – Aurbis-ORR is a newly constructed commercial building located in the eastern suburb of Bengaluru called Marathalli. The building is located on the mutation corridor with connectivity to the main road of Sarjapur, Bengaluru’s thriving business district. Here one can find excellent residential enclaves, schools, hospitals, malls and high-street shopping.

The builder of the property, SJR Primecorp, has provided the core and shell and the basic infrastructure. The developer’s client, Singapore-based Aurbis Business Parks, is providing the interior fit-outs and leasing the building long term. It was Aurbis’ motivation for the building to become EDGE certified so that potential tenants will be convinced of the value of the superior performance of the building compared to a conventional building, in the areas of energy, water and embodied energy in materials. Aurbis is committed to meeting the highest environmental standards for the interior fit-outs related to lighting, automation and materials in all of its properties.

The Rainbow Children’s Hospital – Bengaluru offers a bright and comfortable environment not only for patients seeking care, but also for the doctors and nurses who work to save lives. The newest addition to the Rainbow Children’s Hospital group, the Marathahalli facility, is located just outside Bengaluru. The 200-bed hospital maximizes natural lighting and ventilation, and incorporates many green features to conserve natural resources and provide a more pleasant environment for all. Forty-eight percent of the building’s hot water demand is supplied using on-site solar hot water collectors. Additionally, a black water treatment and recycling system conserves all non-potable water so it can be used for landscaping, water closets and urinals. Building green has allowed the hospital to save nearly $7,000 in operating costs each month, helping allocate more finances toward patient care. The success of the Rainbow Children’s Hospital has inspired management to incorporate sustainable designs into their other projects.

Rainbow Hospital opened its doors to patients in 1999 as one of the first pediatric care facilities in southern India. Despite being met with skepticism about the need for separate pediatric facilities, Dr. Ramesh Kancharla forged ahead with a vision for better child health care. Today, Rainbow Hospital is ranked the number one children’s multi-specialty hospital in India. The Rainbow Hospital family has 11 facilities specifically dedicated to women and children.

The B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, located in Chennai, has prepared students in India to pursue careers in engineering, science and technology for over 32 years. In addition to inspiring innovation among its students, the university has also chosen to improve its campus by adding green buildings. The new women’s residences and staff quarters have many green features that have all been implemented at no additional cost to the university. When utility bills are taken into consideration, the result is a positive sum gain.

The university has many green features such as solar hot water collectors and energy-saving lighting systems to reduce energy consumption, and UPVC windows to reduce embodied energy in materials. Located in a region that experiences frequent droughts and shortages of water, the university can also conserve its supply of water with the help of low-flow showerheads and faucets and dual flush water closets. The university hopes to use EDGE for future buildings on the campus, to further its resource-efficient and environmentally-friendly approach.

The residences will be built by the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, a Mumbai-based business enterprise with interests in construction, real estate, infrastructure and more. The Shapoorji Pallonji Group develops both luxury apartments and affordable housing.

Kolkata West International City is a satellite township development with IT parks, a hospital, schools and shopping centers, located 9 kilometers from the heart of Kolkata in Howrah. The EDGE-certified apartments are not air conditioned, using such techniques as applying reflective paint and installing windows with low-E coated glass to keep the heat at bay. Homeowners will save anywhere from 300 to more than 800 rupees per month on their utility bills compared to if they had invested in a conventional home.
