Preescolar del Colegio Sagrado Corazón Montemayor is a preschool, located in Antioquia, about 25 kilometers outside of Medellin, Colombia. The project was developed by the Colegio Sagrado Corazón Montemayor, a local Catholic educational institution, offering classes for all levels from preschool through high school.
Through the use of state-of-the-art technologies such as external shading devices, energy-saving LED lightbulbs with occupancy sensors in bath- and classrooms, and water-efficient plumbing features, the project was able to significantly reduce its energy and water consumption, as well as energy embodied in materials, resulting in a more sustainable construction project and a reduced carbon footprint.
Colegio Sagrado Corazón Montemayor has received Final EDGE Advanced Certification from CAMACOL.

Energy
Reduced window to wall ratio, external shading devices, energy-saving lighting in internal and external areas, occupancy sensors in bathrooms and classrooms, and photoelectric sensors to harvest daylight.
Water
Low-flow showerheads and faucets, water-efficient urinals and faucets for kitchen sinks, and water-efficient flush for all water closets.
Materials
In-situ trough concrete slab for the floor, steel-clad sandwich panel and clay roofing tiles on steel rafters for roof construction, honeycomb clay blocks with plaster on both sides for internal and external walls, medium weight hollow concrete blocks for internal walls, terracotta tiles and vinyl for flooring, and aluminum window frames.
