EDGE Advanced

The UDLA Park Building Extension project is an 8-story educational facility on the University of Las Américas campus in Quito. Resource-efficient design features and technologies will be incorporated into the building, including natural ventilation, solar photovoltaics, and a blackwater treatment and recycling system.

The UDLA Park Building Extension project has received a preliminary EDGE Advanced certificate from GBCI.

Technical Solutions

Energy

Insulation of the roof, low-E coated glass, a variable refrigerant volume (VRV) cooling system, energy-saving lighting for internal and external spaces, occupancy sensors in bathrooms and classrooms, photoelectric sensors to harvest daylight, and solar photovoltaics.

Water

Efficient-flush water closets, low-flow showerheads and faucets, water-efficient urinals and faucets for kitchen sinks, and a blackwater treatment and recycling system.

Materials

In-situ trough concrete slab for the floor and roof construction, plasterboards on metal studs with insulation for internal walls, cement fibre boards on metal studs and solid dense concrete blocks for external walls, and ceramic tile and vinyl flooring.
